Obermayerhofen Castle
The romantic wedding castle.
History
Unbreakable.

Obermayerhofen Castle is located in the middle of a 170,000 m² park nestled in the gentle hills of the Styrian thermal spring region. Obermayerhofen was founded in 1170 as a fortified manor. To protect this property a knights' castle was also built. Unfortunately, knowledge of construction and destruction of this knights' castle has been lost. In 1377, the Teuffenbach family bought Obermayerhofen Castle and, in the course of their more than 200-year-old ownership, expanded the surrounding estate through constant acquisitions. At the beginning of the 16th century, it was destroyed in Turkish attacks and was then not rebuilt until 1574. In the period following World War II, it was plundered by soldiers of the occupation and then left to decay.

Castle lord
A new, old owner.

In 1977, Count Harald Kottulinsky bought back the castle, which his family had owned from 1777 to 1924. In 1986, he opened a castle hotel offering exquisite comfort. Thirteen years later the adjoining palace park was extended by 170,000m². Romantic, stylish and noble--Obermayerhofen Castle is the perfect place for the most beautiful day in your life.
